River Bend is a traditional 5 piece bluegrass band consisting of original music as well as classic bluegrass standards and Bluegrass rarities.

 

Formed in 2015 in the heart of the Midwest, River Bend is a Traditional Bluegrass band that is dedicated to the performance and preservation of the "High-Lonesome Sound". With soaring tenor harmonies, driving instrumentation, and the classic bluegrass sound, this group recalls the voices of Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, Vern Williams, Red Allen and more. Dustin Greer - Guitar, Vocals

Born in Grafton, Illinois, Dustin Greer began playing music at the age of 9. He is a multi-instrumentalist with emphasis on Traditional Bluegrass guitar and Monroe style mandolin. He has honed his craft playing with Illinois, Missouri, and Colorado bands including Lazy Joe, Boom Chicken, Vince Herman (of Leftover Salmon) and renowned  St. Louis bluegrass band Cumberland Gap. His high tenor lead and harmony vocals as well as driving rhythm guitar highlights of the River Bend sound.

Andy Novara - Mandolin, Vocals

Andy Novara is a multi-instrumentalist originally from Jamestown ND, currently residing in St. Louis, MO. He began playing at an early age and has played venues as disparate as the New York City Jazz Festival and the Station Inn by way of Nashville Tennesse. Novara plays Monroe-style mandolin in this group. Novara has a undergraduate degree in Jazz Performance and is currently pursuing his Masters in Music . When not gigging or touring, he can be found teaching at the St. Louis Folk School teaching many classes in the bluegrass/old-time tradition. http://www.andynovaramusic.com/

                                        Ian Walsh - Fiddle, Vocals

Ian Walsh was born with a fiddle in his hands. He began playing at the age of five under the guidance of Greg Crone and Niall Gannon, and he began teaching at fourteen after taking first place in the Irish fiddle nationals competition. From there his playing and teaching progressed with four trips to Ireland to compete in the world championships and a gradual gathering of students from around Missouri. At the age of eighteen, Ian was awarded the Gold Congressional Medal from congress for his work with St. Louis Irish Arts and his excellence on the fiddle. He began playing with the Local Gents at 21, with heavy influence from the late great Vassar Clemens, and enjoys bluegrass thoroughly.

Kris Shewmake - Banjo, Vocals

 Originally from Southern Illinois, he began playing banjo at age 16. He developed his playing and music career over the years in Colorado, Tennessee, and Missouri. He has played in several bands including: Lazy-Joe, Foggy Memory Boys, & The River Ramblers. He is a very versatile musician who incorporates a wide rage of styles and techniques into his playing.


Will Miskall - Upright Bass, Vocals

         Originally from St. Louis, MO, Will is multi-instrumentalist and veteran to the St. Louis bluegrass scene and is very exicted to be playing with River Bend. Playing in various St. Louis bluegrass groups, such as The Local Gents, Wayward Mountaineers, Gateway Ramblers, The Foggy Memory Boys, and The Grits, just to name a few. Will is a very gifted musician as well as a powerful singer. In addition to laying down rock solid bass lines, Will's high lonesome tenor make him an integral part of the sound of River Bend.
